How to Be a Woodlander in Your Room (Decor)

Updated: Jul 12, 2021

The woodlander aesthetic is full of lush greens, rustic styles, wood and leather, and more. It is rooted (Ha! Get my pun?) in an appreciation and admiration of the forestlands and all that is found in them. Though it may be very centered around the outdoors, it is possible to weave this aesthetic into your own home decor. I’ve decided to outline a few of the ways I’ve personally channeled woodlander style in my bedroom.

Bring Nature Inside

One of the best ways to be a woodlander is to collect little things you find growing out in the woods. I have pinecones, ferns, dried flowers, and other lovely organic matter scattered about my room. I must say I quite love the effect. It adds such a comforting, natural atmosphere to the space while at the same time feeding my flora-focused creative inspirations.

Walls That Speak of the Woods

Taped and hung along my walls are posters and pages from books and pieces of places and warm-toned wooden shelves. It is a good idea to find wall decor that is rustic or simple and connects with the woodlander theme. I picked pages out of a vintage booklet on how to draw bears that I thought suited the room well. There are framed botanical illustrations and pressed flowers. A small ceramic rabbit's head is mounted next to my mirror. Anything that says “forest” is likely to do wonders for your walls.

Use the Right Colors

Not everything in your space has to be themed around the forest. In order to make a room feel cohesive, use a consistent color palette. In my case, there are rich warm browns, any natural shade of green, creams, beiges, whites, and charcoal grays. My violin ties in with the chair and picture frames, which tie in with the antique mirror and neutral books on the shelves. Everything feels like it belongs together. Pops of yellow and blue here and there add a fun variety to the room.

In short, there are many ways to use the woodlander aesthetic in your own decor to make a space that reflects your nature-loving self. I hope you gained an idea or two from this little room tour. The next thing to do would be to plant a tree and let it grow straight through your ceiling, I suppose!
