The Commuting Life Begins

February 02, 2024,
After working from home for four years, I have finally stepped into a secular content writing job. My contractor work was beginning to dry up in the autumn, and by mid-October, I was frantically hunting for a more consistent job. After much searching and over 100 submitted job applications, I walked into 2024 as an SEO Content Writer for Web3 Marketing, located in South Edmonton (a good 45-minute bus ride from my apartment, by the way).
To be sure, I was reluctant to leave behind my cozy WFH life. It was such a privilege being able to set my own schedule and plan work around my life instead of life around my job. But I've also missed the luxury of being able to leave work at work, to come home and decompress from the day without the thought of "I could be working right now instead of resting" hanging over my head.
Yes, a change was needed. And while I would love to return to the WFH life one day, for now, I'm happy to work in an office where I have access to a duel-screen workspace, a staff room with endless cups of coffee, and a small set of coworkers who are just as passionate as I am about creativity and design.
Yes, a big portion of this blog is dedicated to the WFH life, but fear not - I'm still going to write the odd article on the subject. While I don't work from home at the moment, I certainly advocate for it!
That said, I'll definitely be focusing more on articles about living in the city, life as an author, book reviews - all that jazz. Oddly enough, now that I'm not working at home, it will be much easier for me to set aside time for this blog. So keep on the watch for more consistent content (she said, ever so hopefully).
Happy reading!
